PE-Xa pipes
The Danfoss PE‑Xa pipe is a high quality, 5‑layer floor heating pipe with a built‑in EVOH oxygen barrier.
During manufacturing, all layers are permanently bonded, so they won’t separate over time.
PE-Xa (peroxide) pipes offer greater flexibility than PE-X pipes cross‑linked by other methods.
They can be cold‑bent and curved easily without special tools, reducing the diameter of curves and saving installation time.
The EVOH oxygen barrier is a thin layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) that stops oxygen from passing through the pipe wall.
This prevents oxygen from entering the system water, which can cause corrosion in metal components. By reducing corrosion, the barrier helps extend the service life of the entire installation.
The 5 layer cross linked polyethylene pipe (PE-Xa) with oxygen barrier is used in accordance with ISO 15875.
Features and benefits
- Flexible with high temperature and pressure ratings
- Possible to do kink repairs
- The oxygen barrier is protected inside the pipe wall by an outer PE layer
- This outer layer prevents scratches during handling and installation, keeping the barrier intact
- Best pressure and temperature ratings with the highest burst pressure due to cross linking level > 70%
- Greater freezing resistance with low installation temperature down to -20 °C
- Lifetime up to 50 years
