Direct heating substation with instantaneous domestic hot water preparation are used in single-family houses, where pressure and temperature conditions allow direct connections, but the most common use is in the multi-family buildings with decentralized heating and DHW installations.
Each building and apartment has a directly connected substation or flat station with integrated production of domestic hot water. Single or multiple heating circuits (e.g. radiator, floor heating system) are supplied with heated water from the central heat source.
Today, renovated or new buildings are obliged to make at least partial use of renewable energy sources. Modern central heating systems can use buffer tanks to combine different energy sources.
All buildings must comply with strict DHW hygiene regulations.

EvoFlat 4.0 PRO F
The Danfoss EvoFlat 4.0 PRO F is an electronically controlled flat station designed to regulate the temperature of domestic hot water and heating flow. It is particularly wellsuited for use in multi- family residential buildings with central heating systems.
Equipped with an advanced electronic controller and specially developed actuators, the unit ensures precise temperature regulation, while all relevant operational data can be accessed online. Cold meters can be read and displayed simultaneously via the M-bus interface.
This innovative solution sets new industry standards. The functional blocks are manufactured from reinforced PPS composite material, making the station lightweight and reducing internal heat emissions. The smooth internal pipe surfaces minimise the risk of deposits and blockages.
All components are assembled using advanced Click- Fit connections. In comparison to conventional stations with pipe and screw fittings, this modern connection technology eliminates the need for retightening during installation and commissioning.
Primary side
The flat station is equipped with two differential pressure regulators and a strainer. A summer bypass function maintains the supply line temperature during idle periods, ensuring a rapid response time for domestic hot water production. The bypass can be operated continuously or according to a weekly schedule. A return temperature limitation function is included as an accessorie.
Secondary side
The flat station supplies the heating surfaces with the flow temperature provided by the supply line. The standard integrated differential pressure regulator ensures optimal operating conditions for the heating system. An actuator can optionally be installed on the zone valve; this actuator can be used to switch off the heating system via an external signal or to reduce the return temperature.
Domestic hot water ( DHW)
Four heat exchanger sizes are available, covering capacities from 37 kW to 70 kW. The EvoFlat 4.0 PRO F is equipped with an actuator for precise regulation of the domestic hot water temperature. This actuator adjusts the primary-side flow rate according to the hot water temperature and the draw-off volume. The station incorporates an integrated differential pressure regulator on the primary side of the domestic hot water heating system, eliminating the need for hydraulic balancing between the station and the primary side. If required, the station can be expanded with a DHW circulation set.
EvoFlat 4.0F
Danfoss EvoFlat 4.0 station is particularly suitable for multi family buildings with central heat generation or district heating. The innovative unit sets new standard. It consists of functional blocks made of a specially reinforced PPS composite material. This makes the station extremely lightweight and limits internal heat emission. The smooth surface reduces the risks of scaling and clogging.
All components are assembled with newly designed click-fit connections. Compared to conventionel substations with pipes and screw connections, this newconnection technology does not require retightening during installation and commissioning.
Primary side (DH)
The flat station is equipped with two differential pressure controller and a central strainer. A summer bypass keeps the supply line warm during standstill. This ensures a fast response time for DHW during the summer. The bypass is thermostatically controlled.
Heating (HE)
The flat station supplies the radiator heating circuits with the flow temperature provided by the supply. The differential pressure regulator integrated as standard creates optimal operating conditions for the heating. A zone valve is integrated in the return side. Timedependent temperature control can be carried out using an optional actuator and room thermostat using an optional high-temperature connection set.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
Four sizes of heat exchanger are available to cover all requirements from 37 kW up to 70 kW. The Evoflat 4.0 M is equipped with an intelligent controller that regulates the supply side flow based on the domestic hot water temperature and the volume of water drawn. The station features an integrated differential pressure controller on the supply side of the domestic hot water heating system. This eliminates the need for hydraulic balancing of the station. If necessary, the station can be expanded with a hot water circulation set.
EvoFlat FSF
The EvoFlat four pipe station are developed to increase efficiency in systems with heat pumps. The concept includes the use of two different temperature levels. A flow temperature of 55 °C is required for tap water heating. On the heating side, the surface heating system is operated with a flow temperature of 35 – 38 °C. In this way, the best possible COP for the heat pump is achieved. The EvoFlat-TM four pipe station is available as an in-wall version with a flush-mounted box or as a wall-mounted version.
Domestic hot water (DHW)
The hot water output is determined by the number of plates in the built-in heat exchanger. Due to the flow temperature of 55 °C, only type 4 is available. A built-in flow controller opens the flow through the heat exchanger on the heating and drinking water side. When the tap is finished, both flows are closed. The Evoflat 4.0 F is equipped with an intelligent controller that regulates the flow rate on the supply side depending on the hot water temperature and the tap volume. The station has an integrated differential pressure regulator on the supply side of the drinking water heating. This means that hydraulic balancing of the station is not necessary. These components ensure the optimum operating status for all home stations that are connected to the same system. To measure water consumption, are the EvoFlat4.0 F is equipped with a fitting piece for mounting a water meter in the cold-water inlet.
Heating
The control section on the heating side includes a differential pressure controller type AB-PM DN 20, a strainer, a sensor thermowell and a fitting piece for inserting a heat meter. The differential pressure controller with flow limitation ensures optimal operating conditions during heating. To ensure time-dependent temperature control, the EvoFlat™ four pipe station can optionally be equipped with an actuator (type TWA-Q) for the zone valve integrated in the AB-PM and a room thermostat with timer.
Design
The innovative EvoFlat 4.0 FSF sets new standards. It consists of function blocks made of a specially composite material. This makes the station extremely light and limits internal heat emission. The smooth surface significantly reduces the risk of deposits and contaminants.
Insulation
The EvoFlat 4.0 FSF has a high insulation EPP cover. It is built up on an EPP insulated back plate and a few front insulation covers for the DHW, DH, HE and mounting rail. This ensures the EvoFlat 4.0 F is fully insulated for minimum heat losses and excellent operating economy.
