Hermetic scroll compressors
Hermetic scroll compressors are positive displacement compressors used in HVAC and refrigeration systems where high efficiency, low vibration, and stable operation are required.
The scroll compression process uses two interleaved spiral elements to compress refrigerant in a continuous motion. This provides:
For refrigeration applications, MLZ and LLZ are the primary scroll compressor ranges used in commercial cooling systems.
Features and benefits
- Continuous compression with low vibration
- High seasonal efficiency
- Suitable for rack and distributed systems
- Vapor injection capability on selected LLZ applications
- Compact compressor footprint
- Broad refrigerant compatibility

DSH
The DSH range of hermetic scroll compressors from Danfoss is designed to deliver reliable, energy-efficient performance in both air conditioning and heating applications. Compatible with multiple low-GWP refrigerants (R410A, R454B, R452B), they feature IDV technology to optimize energy efficiency. Available in a wide variety of capacities and electrical configurations, DSH compressors combine durability, versatility, and compliance with major international certifications. They are offered in single, tandem, and trio configurations, providing flexible solutions to meet the demands of modern HVAC systems.
For certain models, particularly the large-frame DSH scrolls, factory-mounted Oil Level Switch (OLS) options are available. The OLS helps protect the compressor by monitoring oil levels in real time, enabling early detection of low-oil conditions and preventing potential damage, thus enhancing system reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
Cold Rooms
Hermetic scroll compressors are used in commercial refrigeration systems requiring efficient and reliable refrigerant compression.
For refrigeration applications:
- MLZ – medium-temperature refrigeration
- LLZ – low-temperature refrigeration
Selection is primarily based on evaporating temperature, compression ratio, system architecture, and vapor injection requirements.
